What We Do…
Six Years of Year-Round Student Support: Beginning in middle school and continuing for more than six years, The Practice 1911 scholars benefit from year-round program opportunities. Students are supported in both their academic and social-emotional learning that leads to college admission. By starting early, and walking the path with students through their pivotal development from sixth grade all the way through graduation, we help them prepare for college and beyond.
Extended Learning Opportunities: The Practice 1911 provides educational experiences that go beyond the traditional school day and school year. To ensure our students are fully prepared for the rigor of college, our affiliates offer academically challenging summer programs, after-school tutoring, weekend enrichment programs, test preparation, college and financial counseling, and individualized college guidance.
We deploy our Socio-Emotional Learning task force from our HBCU partners into public schools as positive, disruptive, learning-experience agents (relative to the monolithic mode of teacher-led instruction). By migrating instruction delivery towards custom-configured teaching methods that are able to meet individual student needs, school systems will gradually realize the vision of transforming the classroom from a monolithic one into a student-centric one where all students can learn in the ways their individual minds are wired to learn.
Through Lives Matter Period initiatives, we create connections and rebuild communities from the inside out by partnering with like-minded organizations devoted to uplifting communities. Our programs, rooted in an innovative educational model, empower the communities we partner with with everything they need to improve their reality. We realize our vision in the Historically Black College and University communities through which we aspire to create pipeline teaching programs, college-bound students, and the next generation of entrepreneurs.
