Lives Matter Period, Inc.
Lives Matter Period (LMP) is a grassroots, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a dual mission: 1) to place middle school students on a six-year path towards entrepreneurship and college readiness. 2) to inspire the next generation of black male educators by way of hands-on teaching opportunities. LMP focuses on innovative Financial Education and Generational Wealth methodologies to implement and demonstrate in public schools by way of middle-grades and high school Project-Based Learning strategies.
Our mission is to create teacher pipeline programs for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and bridge them to local public school systems that provide academic enrichment opportunities, mentorships, and case management services, and Social Emotional Learning centered curricula.
Lives Matter Period will become the organization of choice, where students and teachers maximize their potential in a nurturing environment that embraces social and intellectual diversity. Lives Matter Period will create an efficient, student-centered culture, responsive to the needs of its stakeholders, supportive of ideals and ethical verities.

Our academic program goals are two-fold:
1) 100% of students who complete the program will graduate from high school, own and manage their business that is recognized by the State, and will be college-ready.
2. To establish a clear, efficient, effective, and widely-used data tracking system for all important student data -- facilitate the use of data in the classroom as a formative tool for curriculum planning as a well-understood part of the instructional framework and teaching experience.
The Practice 1911
The Practice 1911 is LMP’s syndicated enrichment program that provides a year-round financial education program, in which scholars simulate day-to-day operations in managing their business and simulate affecting economic changes. We recognize that post-secondary education attainment is principally a middle class and upper class value; so many students who live in communities where going to college is not the norm not only more than likely do not understand how to navigate the college application process, but many do not seriously consider it an option and are open to entrepreneurship. These students need The Practice 1911.
The Sword 1911
The Sword 1911 is LMP’s immersive, hands-on teaching program, in which we provide an intense eight week teacher development program. The Sword 1911 is designed to create inclusive, supportive, identity-safe pipeline teaching programs where college students at HBCUs gain exposure to authentic classroom teaching experience.
Onyx People Program
Onyx People Program (OPP) is LMP’s Volunteer program that seeks to create community engagement opportunities and enrich cultures of volunteerism in underserved communities. Our doors swing ajar on welcome hinges to volunteers who are committed to community service and social equity in access to resources.
